Linearization of a Nonlinear Periodic Boundary Condition Related to Corrosion Modeling

چکیده
We study galvanic currents on a heterogeneous surface. In electrochemistry, the oxidation-reduction reaction producing the current is commonly modeled by a nonlinear elliptic boundary value problem. The boundary condition is of exponential type with periodically varying parameters. We construct an approximation by first homogenizing the problem, and then linearizing about the homogenized solution. This approximation is far more accurate than both previous approximations or direct linearization. We establish convergence estimates for both the two and three-dimensional case and provide two-dimensional numerical experiments. Mathematics subject classification: 35J65, 35Q72.

Effect of the Multi Vibration Absorbers on the Nonlinear FG Beam Under Periodic Load with Various Boundary Conditions
A semi-analytical method is used to study the effects of the multi vibration absorbers on the nonlinear functionally graded (FG) Euler-Bernoulli beam subjected to periodic load. The material properties of the beam are assumed to be continuously graded in the thickness direction. The governing equations of functionally graded beam are obtained based on the Hamilton's principle and these equation...
متن کاملSimultaneous reconstruction of shape and impedance in corrosion detection
Corrosion detection can be modelled by the Laplace equation for an electric or a heat potential in a simply connected planar domain D with a homogeneous impedance boundary condition on a non-accessible part of the boundary ∂D. We consider the inverse problem to simultaneously recover the non-accessible part of the boundary and the impedance function from two pairs of Cauchy data on the accessib...
متن کاملPeriodic boundary value problems for controlled nonlinear impulsive evolution equations on Banach spaces
This paper deals with the Periodic boundary value problems for Controlled nonlinear impulsive evolution equations. By using the theory of semigroup and fixed point methods, some conditions ensuring the existence and uniqueness. Finally, two examples are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed results.
متن کاملApproximate solution of laminar thermal boundary layer over a thin plate heated from below by convection
In this paper, an integration of a symbolic power series method - Padé approximation technique (PS - Padé), was utilized to solve a system of nonlinear differential equations arising from the similarity solution of laminar thermal boundary layer over a flat plate subjected to a convective surface boundary condition. As both boundary conditions tended to infinity, the combination of series solut...
متن کاملHomogenization of a reaction-diffusion system modeling sulfate corrosion in locally-periodic perforated domains
We discuss a reaction–diffusion system modeling concrete corrosion in sewer pipes. The system is coupled, semi-linear, and partially dissipative. It is defined on a locally-periodic perforated domain with nonlinear Robin-type boundary conditions at water-air and solid-water interfaces. We apply asymptotic homogenization techniques to obtain upscaled reaction–diffusion models together with expli...
